loomi education is giving students in the diaspora the chance to compete in the Bee!

The LOOMI Annual Spelling Bee program is open to hundreds of African students in schools across the world. We're excited to provide these students with the pathway to compete, from the classroom level all the way to the final competition. They play a large role in our mission of illuminating pathways to lifelong curiosity, celebrating academic achievement and enriching black communities.

Registrations for our Annual Spelling Bee is now open and will close on Monday, 10th February at 12:00 am EST. All entries will be reviewed after this date in preparation for the main event on 11th -13th February, 2025. Our final winners will be announced on our Instagram and other social media accounts at the end of the live event.

key information

+ Registration is FREE for all students in Years 3-7.
+ Online competition only. Entrants answer 30 random spelling words per round.
+ Three reading levels for Years 3-4, Years 5-6 and Years 7-8.
+ Parents or teachers are required to sign-up students. Students must not have turned 13 before January 15, 2025 to enter.
+ Parents are advised to use their own email address to register their child. Email addresses set up for your child is not recommended.
+ Each parent must sign an online Consent Form for child to be eligible.
+ Entrants have between Feb 11 to 13 2025, to sit the Final Round.
+ Entrants must complete each round of the Spelling Bee in accordance with the competition rules. It is assumed entrant have met all competition rules.

competition dates

TEAM ROUND

At the first stage of the competition, participants will in a team of 5 students. Each group will consist of a team of 5 students.

INDIVIDUAL ROUND

At the next stage, 10 participants who succeed at the first round will compete individually to be in the TOP 5.

LIVE ROUND

At the final stage, each participant will compete for the final TOP 3 spots in the competition.
